FAQ

Why use PreVDR?

Why use PreVDR instead of just uploading?

Most data rooms bill by file size or page equivalents. Files are often far larger than they need to be, so you pay for bytes nobody reads. PreVDR removes that excess before upload, without changing what’s in the file.

How much will I save?

It depends on your provider and how many scans and images you have. Scan-heavy rooms often see 30–60% fewer billed pages. Use the savings calculator, or compress your files to measure the saving on your own room.

Which data rooms does it work with?

Any of them: Datasite, Intralinks, iDeals, Ansarada, Firmex, Box, SecureDocs, DealRoom and others. You upload the compressed files as usual.

Do my files get uploaded anywhere?

No. By default PreVDR compresses your files inside your browser, so we never receive, store or retain your documents. Not a byte of them is sent, not even a preview.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Open the compress page and wait until it says Ready, then turn off your Wi-Fi and drop a document: it still compresses, because nothing is sent. This air-gap test is the quickest way for your IT team to check it.

How do you know nothing changed?

Every result is checked against the original before you get it. Every PDF page is rendered and compared pixel by pixel, along with its text and structure. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files are compared part by part with SHA-256 fingerprints, images pixel by pixel. If anything differs, you get your original back.

Will documents still be readable?

Yes. They are identical: same pages, same text, same images. And if a file wouldn’t get smaller, you simply keep the original.

What is Maximum compression?

Our strongest setting, for when cost matters most: the smallest files PreVDR can produce. Nothing in the file changes.

Which files can I compress?

PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx), PNG and JPEG. Drop single files or a whole folder: other documents in the folder go into the ZIP unchanged, so none goes missing.

Is the folder structure kept?

Yes. Drop a whole folder and download one ZIP in which every file keeps its folder and its name, ready to upload, so every document lands where your data room index expects it.

What happens to signed or password-protected files?

Password-protected files and signed PDFs are left exactly as they are, so signatures stay valid. Signed Word, Excel and PowerPoint files keep every part byte for byte, so their signatures stay valid too.
